Newport National Golf Club's Orchard Course is an 18 hole Semi-Private golf course, open to the public. It is located in Middletown, Rhode Island.
The Orchard Course first opened for play in 2002. The course was designed by Arthur Hills and Drew Rogers.
The course spans almost 200 acres of former shrub and tree nurseries that offer sweeping views of The Sakonnet Passage, Atlantic Ocean, and Narragansett Bay.
The course features greens, tees and fairways consisting of 100% seaside bent grass, and grand, swaying fescue often exceeding 4 feet in length. Reminiscent of some of Irelands finest golf links. Newport National is a unique New England golfing experience.
The course at Newport National Golf Club has 4 sets of tees. The three longest play to 7,224, 6,553 and 6,017 yards respectively. They are par 72s. The red tees play to 5,217 yards and is a par 71.

Extremely challenging and beautiful course. Off the beaten path, but not hard to find. Probably should charge a bit less ( normal is $90- I played at twilight rate) since there is nothing more than a portable building for a clubhouse/ bar, and you don't really get the full pre/ post match experience. No driving range-- only a net to hit into. Those factors notwithstanding, this is without a doubt the best public course in the area. Highly recommend it if you are looking for a challenge.

Played off season so rates were the cheapest of the year. Conditions were still great for early winter in RI.
